I did a ton of research, I installed several packages, including IDevAffiliate, and I even tried some 3rd party hosted solutions.

Now, let me tell you a few reasons why I chose Post Affiliate Pro.
Better tracking
Post Affiliate Pro has three methods of tracking built into their system automatically: Flash cookies, javascript, and IP tracking. The way they set up their tracking is really unique and it all happens behind the scenes, but it make it more reliable for your commission tracking.
One install = multiple products on multiple websites
I have several products across multiple websites and I wanted one affiliate system to manage all of them. Post Affiliate Pro was the only software package I found that made it possible, and pretty easy.
Third party cookies
The way that Post Affiliate Pro has the automated tracking set up makes it really easy to have your affiliate system hosted on one website while you’re promoting products on one or more separate websites. If you try that with someone else’s product, your potential buyers will probably get security warnings popping up in their browser window.
SEO credit for links
Post Affiliate Pro makes it possible to get credit for your incoming affiliate links.
Think about how important that is if you have a few hundred affiliates promoting your products. All those articles, page links, and blog posts count as votes for your product in the natural search engine algorithms.

The shortcomings of Post Affiliate Pro
Post Affiliate Pro is really good and I highly recommend that you purchase it.
But it’s not perfect.
Here are two big problems…
Generic template for affiliate signups
Post Affiliate Pro gives you a very plain looking template with a form that’s intimidating enough to scare aware potential affiliates.
I’ve found that you have to make a good first impression and make it really easy for potential affiliate to sign up, or else your program will struggle.
Antiquated newsletter system
If you want your affiliates to stay motivated, you have to be in regular contact with them. Very few affiliates will keep promoting your products month after month unless you’re running contests and you keep your relationship strong.
If you want your program to be successful, then you need to plan for success from the start. So do not use the built in newsletter feature.
Post Affiliate Pro’s newsletter system could get you in serious hot water with your web hosting provider, get your website blacklisted as a spammer, and cause most of your email to never get sent out.
This really isn’t Post Affiliate Pro’s fault… you need a third party service that’s reliable and gives you double opt in, and you need to know how to entice affiliates to join.
My solution
Since I’m a web designer and programmer, I was able to create a professional affiliate signup page, change the html, and put everything into an easy-to-manage template.
I also put together supporting files on how to whitelist an email address, how to signup for the newsletter, and promotional information that makes every affiliate want to sign up.
Then I integrated a reliable newsletter manager and tested it out several times.

I followed the instructions for banner creation but I still can’t get it to work. I’ve been emailing the support team. They’ve been responsive but not very helpful with this particular problem. They keep sending me back to the merchant panel to create the banners. Any tip on banner creation? I’m also struggling on the destination URL for the affiliates to get their banners in the affiliate panel. I wish Affiliate Pro had a live phone support. Can I still get the goodies from you? Hello Jack, first of all the software is very good however we have ran into to small problems that have us at a stand still.
First problem is the pay pal integration method does not work with the srcipt added to the paypal button. There is no support for this error and the material (script) seems to be outdated by a few years. Second the system will not track sub affiliates in the report. I see this in the script (html) however the action is not working. We have attempted sending emails to Post Affiliate Pro without any reply. There site is also outdated in the forums with dead links. We are in need of help in this matter or we will need to ask for a refund and look elswhere for another program with phone support. We believe this problem to be simple but it is beyond us. I will leave this note that the software works well when it works. Please reply to us by email or phone as you have all this information from us. Thanks for your help

I have a need for a good affiliate script. My need is a script to track referrals to my site. There are no products being sold, just the services included inside the website. will this do what I need? I have the PostMemberPro but I do not really like it. for 1 it only goes 9 tiers down and I am currently running a 10 tier program.
Last time I checked, Post Member Pro went to 20 levels.
Post Affiliate Pro and PMP and made by the same folks. I really have to think that if there are other things you don’t like about PMP then you probably won’t like PAP, but check out their online demo. It might be different enough for you.
Idev affiliate is the other leader in affiliate software, but there’s also jROX and quite a few more.
I don’t remember how many tiers Idev goes, since that’s not really a feature I’m interested in.

Currently we are using post affiliate pro but somehow my affiliates are not happy with the reports generated by this software. We have different products on our website so it is required that affiliate can view the list of product they were able to sell. Do you know if there is any software available which can give more than what post affiliate pro is giving.

The folks at Quality Unit will set it up for you for free. That’s my understanding of their current promotion. Quality Unit is the name of the company that makes and distributes the software.
hey, i wanted to know if this would work for a hotel. My friend owns a hotel and were designing a site for the hotel. We wanted to know if post affiliate pro 3 would work. We want to run an affiliate program were if someone reffers a person to our site, if they make a reservation, they only receive credit when the customer stays at the hotel. Would this work out? For the first part, the way you make that happen is that you can approve commissions manually, manually create ‘transactions’, or manually revoke commissions. So you have a lot of flexibility in that area and the answer is yes, it would work, from what you’ve told me.
From my understanding of big affiliate and CPA networks, they’re going to track and pay affiliates using their own system. They’re not going to give you access to their network and then trust that you report back to them… uh uh.
I suppose the unspoken next question is whether or not you’ll be allowed to run your own PAP affiliate system AND hook in with a third party network. I suspect the answer depends on which network. I know of at least one affiliate that has a CJ promotion and their own affiliate system.

Per the license, you are not allowed to install it willy nilly on multiple sites.
If you have several sites and several products, you can see the advantage of having one central place for tacking sales, managing affiliates, and cross promoting your products to your sales team.

If using Affiliate Pro can it be used “offline” as well? ie. can your affiliates hand our fliers, etc as promotion materials.
Put another way, I’m wanting to use Affiliate Pro, but I’m wanting my affiliates to be able to use their “affiliate number” or be able to put a tracking “signup” links on their offline marketing materials for fundraisers, etc.
Is that possible/easy to implement with Affiliate Pro?

Here’s a couple ways to make that work:
1) Put up a web page with a form requesting the affiliate id, even if you call it something else, like “Promotion code”. Your programmer sets up a simple redirect that takes that information and sends the visitor through an affiliate link on the site and on to payment or donation.
2) You give your promoters special pages like www.yoursite.com/Donna and again redirect through a specific aff link to the donation page
3) Blend of the two previous: drop down form so a name can be chosen and then the person is redirected through the affiliate link
So, yes, you can use it to track offline promotions as long as the web is used to make the purchase or donation.

I am also trying to configure PAP for the benefit of off-line affiliates, and have created the replicated pages in a folder off my root folder in order to keep all these pages together. I end up with a url like:-

My question is:
using .htacces is there a way to get rid of “/pappages”
so that a url of
http://www.xxxx.com/aff-ref-id
will redirect to the acutal folder/file?

I have a couple of people interested in being my affiliate that don’t have web sites so I would have to give them a code or something so that the people they refer enter that code as a coupon to track sales.
The idea is to give these affiliates cards for lets say 5% off on sales that they can hand out to posible clients. Those cards would have a serial number or something. When the client makes a purchase and enters the serial number to get the 5% off that serial number is attached to a specific afilliate thus tracking all sales from that serial number.\

Yes, it’s possible and pretty easy.
You need a website. That’s where PAP will run.
You set up a form on an html page where they enter in the promo code. The form sends the info to a php page that pops the promo code onto the end of a url, basically structures an affiliate link, and redirects to that page.
It’s the same as someone clicking an affiliate link, except instead of clicking a link that’s made for them, they unknowingly create the affiliate link by typing in the affiliate id as the promo code into the form.
Now, you have one more step. You need to redirect legitimate affiliate links from that form to your 5% off page. That’s easy too. In the admin panel there’s a way to create ‘dynamic links’ and what you get is a url pattern that you can use in the code I described above to send the promo code visitors to any page on your site.
Kind of hard to describe…
But yes, it’s definitely doable.

A potential buyer is sent to a special page where they are “cookied” or tagged with a harmless identifier that will credit someone with the sale, when a purchase is made.

It depends on whether your focus is on viral growth, or membership site admin.
PMP is designed as a viral affiliate program with a membership aspect.
Amember is designed as a membership portal with an affiliate aspect.
Just depends on what your focus is.
From reading the user guide of PMP, I’d say that I’d probably go with Amember and then hack myself the viral components I wanted. Also, if you don’t like the affiliate system of Amember, you can integrate PAP very easily.
Amember has more docs and plugins for integration with forums, blogs, etc.
I’m actually about to buy a copy (of Amember) myself, but I’m wondering if they’re going to be doing a holiday special.
I am almost sold. I’ve asked this question to Quality Unit but still no answer. Just a couple of questions:
1. I don’t have any products of my own. I want to sell products and services sold by other affiliate networks to my affiliates. Does this model work with PAP?

Then I read your article on Canonical Url Tool. I’m not sure I understand the first question. PAP tracks clicks… when you get down to it, it’s a high powered click tracker. You could use it to only track your own advertising, or you could use it as most people do, to track successful affiliate sales of your products and pay your affiliates.
The only use I could see with other people’s products would be to track your own links. It would work to the extent that your buyers landed on a specific thank you page that you could program to indicate a successful order. Other wise it will just track click throughs.
But that’s true of any affiliate tracking system.
Your second question is about suppression files that companies often put out like a ‘do not email’ list…
No, you’d have to download the suppression list from Azoogle, or CJ, or whatever network and then use your own email system to send out the emails. You don’t want to use PAP (or anything based on your own server) to send out an email blast… trust me on that one.
I’m doing my best to point out that I think you’re expecting PAP to do something that AFAIK no other software does. So even though my answer was ‘maybe’ and ‘no’ - my perspective is that you were expecting something that other software can’t do either.

Yeah, I know IDev has a seo addon but I promote a product for another vendor that uses Idev and I’m pretty underwhelmed with the tools you can use through that system.

I show you how you can set up special links for your top JV’s and affiliates like:

I show you how even the plain jane affiliate links that come standard with PAP like:

Can be instantly redirected with 301’s to
yoursite.com/
This gives your links SEO credit in Google’s eyes and also does your affiliates a huge favor by not advertising to the world that it’s an affiliate link.
I play both sides of the affiliate “game” and since I’ve seen Idev from both angles, I just think it’s not as good as PAP, especially after a few of my tweaks I teach.

I don’t use either. The alert feature just doesn’t look that interesting to me and the brand removal is just for the footers of the install, not the logo (which I show you how to change in the videos and is perfectly okay with Quality Unit)
What I would recommend instead, and something I have used, is Live Agent. This is a chat application you can use to answer questions in real time on your site. If your price point makes it worth your time, it can save lost sales very quickly.
Now, what you’ll find is that your chats fall into two categories: presales, and support. So you’ll want to have a help desk with FAQ’s that’s easy to manage.
Once again, Quality Unit has a product that can help. Until you can effectively outsource live chat help, you’ll want to keep your live chats to presales and direct folks to the help desk. Believe me, having a ticket system is a godsend, for both parties.
So that’s where I would spend the money. And the reason I like these two products is that they’re so much cheaper than the other alternatives.
Look at Live Chat, the most popular is Live Person. $90 a month and up and you’re limited on how many ’seats’ you have. Yikes. Granted, Live Person has some fancy tracking that Live Agent doesn’t have. But, Live Agent does 80-90% of the job for what amounts to one month of Live Person. Other popular alternatives are almost as expensive as LP.
For help desk the popular alternatives are Kayako, and Cerberus. Cerberus does have a free option, so you could give that a shot. If you go with Kayako, look for a reseller… they’ll discount it for you. (Little trick I learned while searching for something else)
But the support desk software from QU looks very promising and affordable. I’m going to be installing it on my own site to replace the free but outdated alternative you can see at www.jackborn.com/support

Can you send people to multiple landing pages on the site? Like directly to the order page or maybe a promotional page or something?
Most affiliate programs you don’t have much flexibility on where you send people once they click on the affiliate link.
You can send them to any page on your site. It’s very flexible that way.
The way I’ve seen Idev affiliate implemented, it was very rigid in forcing the affiliate to choose a predetermined landing page.
Post Affiliate Pro doesn’t set a limitation in that way.
For example, if one of my affiliates wanted to set up a link to one of my blog posts… they don’t have to ask, they can just set it up.
To make things easy, I’ll often give them links pre done and show them how to customize…

I run a horse racing site which promotes a tipster service. The tipster’s affiliate program is run by Post Affiliate Pro.
Since I signed up over 2 weeks ago click thrus from my site to the tipster site are not showing up on my stats on the Post Affiliate Pro website. I clicked a few times myself to make sure I had the correct code, which I did.
I emailed Post Affiliate Pro 3 times in the past 10 days explaining what the problem was. No has bothered to reply.
As far as I am concerned there custoomer service is complete crap!

I went to your website and couldn’t find any of the tracking code in your html or a link to an affiliate program. Perhaps you already uninstalled it.
The installations I’ve done for myself and for clients has gone very smoothly. There are lots of extra tweaks I add that are covered in the online movies, but if you follow the pdf installation guide it’s pretty straightforward.
I’m sorry you found their customer service lacking. I know they have lots of knowledge base articles, a ticket system, and movie tutorials.
I hope the next program you use works better for you.

I have a quick question, though, and found PAP Support to be no help so far. I think I’ve got everything set up correctly and have done extensive testing of the system. My problem is that clicks are registering, but sales are not.
I’m using regular Paypal integration and have purchased through myself to test. The click registers when I get to the payment page, but the sale doesn’t register even though I get a sale notification from Paypal.
Any thoughts on what I might be missing here?

I think the videos are great too.
First, you should know that Quality Unit will do an install for you as part of the purchase price. They’re not in the US, so communication can be a little tricky, but they’re good people and will help you out.
Second, go over the code in the integration wizard again and make sure that you have the correct parameters for notify_url in the html. There’s also some javascript in there. Double check it carefully.
Finally, I’m on the tail end of a super complex install for a prominent hosting provider and I spotted something that could be an issue for others. I’ve reported it to QU and they’ve told me they’ll fix it.
But the issue is this: If you set up your affiliate program in a subdomain, you’re going to have trouble with the cookies unless you know how to fix it.
Cookies are odd… unless you specify otherwise, cookies set for
www.yoursite.com
won’t work with
subdomain.yoursite.com
For this install, I had to find where the cookie was being set and make the change.
So keep that in mind.
Bottom line, I’d submit a support ticket and have the folks at QU finish up the install.

They have an option to do a 301 redirect. It’s called “permanent redirect” in the admin.
301’s tell the search engines… this is the new location of this page. So Page Rank passes. That’s the theory anyhow.

You turn ON the resources link, so that there’s a link to resources page(s) for your affiliates. Then you create your emails there, using the placeholders they give you.
That gives you access to use $Affiliate_id

Our site uses an application form (using PHP) instead of a shopping cart and although I am getting responses from support, the responses are almost cryptic. I know the variable “loan_amount” used in the application should be inserted in the “var Totalcost” code on the thank you page, but I’m sure there is more to it and the few solutions suggested by PAP are not working. Do you have any suggestions? I am on the verge of asking for a refund as support is not providing adequate help.

PAP comes with a “general” catchall shopping cart solution that should work as long as your cart takes the customer to a thank you page that you can modify.
For install, technically the makers of PAP will do a basic install for you but I’ve been hearing more and more that their turnaround on service and responsiveness has been slipping.
To answer your next question, I’m not familiar with Prostores but I’d probably stay away from the full integration offer and just buy the software, and hire someone from Rentacoder or Elance to do the install fot you at $100 (just a guestimate).
And we were all newbies at one time.

1) Go to merchant control panel
2) Look for the link for settings, integration
3) You want to choose PayPal option from drop down
4) Copy and paste their code into your paypal order code
5) Run a test
That should do it. Also see their manual - “integration” section.

I don’t mean to sound stupid, but I have some severe issues with PAPs marketing ploys.
IF I have full source code, then WHY would I need to spend an additional $100 to remove Branding?!?
And, unlike what you have said, PAP states, “To have separated affiliate programs for different websites, you need to obtain multi-installation license.”
Also, I have read where PAP will interface with 1ShoppingCart, but I don’t see 1SC on the list of integrated programs/carts.
I am the programmer for a friend of mine. He wants me to use 1SC and he wants to use 1SC for accounting, tracking, & etc… I want to use PAP with PAP alert to track everything.
Can the integration allow for tracking 100% using both systems? Also, I must agree — the signup page for PAP is lame! Can’t I use my own Post/Get and send info to PAP/1SC.
Also, won’t PAP support squeeze, landing, and affiliate login pages? I have all of the pages already done and just need to add a little php code (I would think).

I’m not in a position to answer questions on behalf of Quality Unit. I don’t work for them.
So what follows is my interpretation based on experience with the product.
(Damn you’ve asked a lot of questions)
I wouldn’t and don’t.
My affiliate control panel still has their link at the bottom in small type, so it’s not really branded. I put my own logo at the top of the control panel html. To me, that’s branding.
I can’t tell you to remove the link or not at the bottom but I’ll tell you that your clients will know they’re at the right place when your banner is at the top of the page.
I’m giving you my interpretation and I think what I have said is congruent with the information on their site. I manage multiple sales channels through one affiliate portal.
My read on Quality Unit’s license is that if you install the code on 10 different sites then you better buy 10 licenses.
Why would you install on 10 sites instead of doing it the way I do it?
Because your products might be completely unrelated: golf gear, web hosting, mortgages.
If you made all three available to your affiliates they’d probably wonder, wtf?
I happen to have similarly related products.
So, my understanding is, for each install, you buy a license.
They have a general solution that serves as a catchall for pretty much any shopping cart.
I use 1sc as well for some of my products and I think it’s an oversight on their part that they don’t send purchase data back to my site when an order is made. Fortunately, I know how to work around their oversight.
If they had a callback, like PayPal and many other processors do, then you’d probably see a specific solution for their cart.
I’ve never tried it, but I suspect you can have the tracking code for PAP and 1sc working simultaneously. I know PAP and Google analytics tracking play nice. So I can’t give you a definitive answer but I am pretty sure you can.
Since one of my bonuses is the html and code for a custom signup page, the answer is yes.
I can’t speak for 1sc… haven’t tried it.
Generally, when you post data through a form it goes to one target. There are ways around that, but it depends on your level of expertise.
What do you mean by support?
PAP has nothing to do with squeeze pages. Scratching my head on that one.
PAP tracks landing pages and of course has affiliate login. That’s what it does.
No offense intended, but odd question.
Again, I’m not sure if you meant to ask:
Can I integrate a double opt in list so that affiliates are automatically signed up for my newsletter when they register?
or if you meant:
Can I set up PAP to require affiliates to confirm their registration to my program by clicking a link an email that goes out on signup?
In closing… They have a money back guarantee.
Buy the product… whether you buy through my link or not… and test it out. If you’ve got the skills to pay the bills I’m sure you can make it work for you.
If you don’t like it, get a refund.
I’d suggest the same with IDev.
I think both companies would prefer for you to give them a shot and see which one works best for you.

That’s what I’m trying to do with the information I provide and answering the questions. But in the end, what works great for me not be perfect for you.
A lot of well respected entrepreneurs are in love with software I don’t feel fit my business model… It’s different strokes for different folks.
But I share my experiences to help remove some of the doubt or questions.
If you’re talking about the logo at the top, then you don’t need to pay them. You can do it yourself. Or, if you don’t know how to do it or have more money than time, you can pay them.
I know how to mow my yard, but I hire that out.
They’re offering the same service and I bet lots of folks take them up on it.
I can tell you that the code is not obfuscated.
There are lots of companies that sell code, software, scripts, etc where you get the code, can modify to your heart’s content… but you don’t own the code. You have a license. You can’t resell it and you can’t install it on multiple servers without violating the license.
It’s pretty common.
As someone that sells software, I respect licenses and pay each time I install.
It looks like a lot went into the project… AND there is a lot of customizing to be done, but all-in-all it would take at least 3-4 months of solid coding to come up with what has been provided for peanuts.
I agree that paying an additional fee for clean installs of different affiliate programs (additional licensing) is also worth the cost, but different affiliate programs can probably be handled through one install by using prefixes in front of products and modifying database queries.
AffPlanet.com (acquired via the source code) wants $30 per month for the same system.
$30 per year is far more do-able

I bought JV Manager 1 through a reseller but there was an installation problem. The vendor (Use-sell.com) wouldn’t support it because I didn’t buy direct! And the reseller is not well equipped to support something that after all is extremely low cost.

One more thing. Yes, you ought to start a paid support service. I’d certainly pay. My time and lost sales cost me much more than a reasonable annual fee.
I think most people just want to get on with rolling out their programs and getting their affiliates to start promoting - that is where the money is for them/me. So I also suggest you consider some sort of paid customisation and integration service too. Again the time saving is worth the cost to me.

I’m almost ready to roll … QU answered all my questions but one … can PAP do this or do I have to do it manually:
In my 2-tier system, Affiliate A refers B.
B is influential with contacts who have large lists. But B himself hasn’t got a big list.
So B stands to gain alot but A will gain very little from his referral.
I want to reward A by giving him say 1% on his third level BUT ONLY for for his third level via B.
In other words I want A to get 1% (only) on B’s 2nd tier but not on the rest of his (A’s) referrals.
Do I have to work this out manually or can PAP restrict A’s thrid level only to B?

Another client has correctly pointed out that there were a few promises made in the over 2 and a half hours of videos that weren’t delivered… meaning that as I was recording the videos I’d say “I’ll make this file you see me working on available to you to download.” But then I forgot to put that file up… purely accidental.
So I’ll be going back through the videos and posting those files online for download.
Truthfully, there was only one client that pointed this out and I think that’s because I had all the main downloads available and delivered a LOT of information in the tutorials.
But absolutely fair is fair and I will be sending out an email to past clients and telling them about the extra files when they get uploaded.
I’ve also learned some new tricks with PAP (from doing some very unique, customized installs for a few clients that contacted me privately) and I’ll soon be adding this information into the videos… and probably redoing some of these.

I’m having trouble wrapping my head around exactly what you’re saying…
What you could do, is start a 3 tier service (yuck - hate the idea, but just go with it for a second) and make the 3rd tier payout 0%.
Then you can create a VIP class of affiliate that gets 1% on the third level and manually choose who to promote to VIP.
Does that make sense?
Restricting the 3rd tier payout to one referrer (aff B in your example) probably isn’t possible. But from a practical standpoint 90% of affiliates don’t do anything past the signup.
So, if A refers B and B brings on C,D,E, and F who go hog wild… paying 1% to A on all of the 3rd tier will effectively be just paying for B’s referrals.
From my standpoint, the likelihood that A thinks she deserves any payout for B’s second tier is small. A two tier system is a two tier system.
I also have to say that very few mature and successful affiliate programs have 2nd, 3rd, etc tiers. Just something to chew on.

The way I have it set up in the videos, your affiliate arrives at your newsletter signup page AFTER registering as your affiliate.
Step 1 signs them up as your affiliate whether the subscribe to your newsletter or not.
I have to say Jack goes above and beyond when it comes to answering basic questions about PAP. If you are going to buy the software you need to buy it through his link.
If/when he gets his paid support in place it will be a no brainer as he is more knowledgable about the product then PAP support - no question!
Before I bought the product I asked him a couple of questions on this blog and got a response almost immediately which helped make my decision easier.

The short answer is yes.
The longer answer is that any working affiliate system will track at minimum two things…
1) The source of the visitor before they bought (so someone can get paid if they buy)
2) Who to credit after the sale
So you’ll use PAP to track the person as they land on your site for the first time.
And after they pay (or during IPN postback in the middle of the transaction) you will use PAP to track the sale and credit an affiliate if appropriate.
Do you have any documentation of setting up flash banners within PAP. I setup mine up and it creates the code okay but it is not clickable?
Your flash banner itself has to be clickable. That has to be coded into your flash. It’s not like a gif banner where the image gets wrapped in an href tag.

We all are using an affiliate software that we all trust! This would make a great little page for finding JV partners and affiliates.
This would be a great traffic genertor for you.
The content being updated by your readers will be a magent for search engine bots.
People who use other software who want to announce their programs get exposed to PAP via you.
And you can build a very targeted list too, that you can market to.
You can make it a free membership site (for those wanting to add their programs) but of course you can market to the members and do “featured program” announcements for a fee.

There’s one issue with GoDaddy as it relates the IPN for PayPal. If you’re not using PayPal it’s not an issue. The details and fix are here:

My beef with PAP is that customer support is virtually non-existent. I’ve been trying to buy the app for almost a week. Simple email questions go unanswered or when they are answered it’s clear the question had not been read.
This is how they treat prospects. I can only imagine it gets worse once you’re a paying customer.
I like the idea that I don’t need to be tied into a shopping cart. PAP seems really good for that. Unfortunately, I have no clue of how the licensing works…am I dependent on their servers remaining up and running? (they can’t be bothered with customer support, lord knows I wouldn’t want to be dependent upon them) Do I need Zend or IonCube?
I have three different purchase options: 1) setup, 2) setup + subscription, 3) subscription. Is PAP smart enough to know that affiliates only get paid on setup sales (even though there are two setup options)?
Anyway, I don’t expect you to answer. I just wanted to express my frustration at working really hard to get basic questions answered by the developer. It must be a hobby operation for them or something??

I hear what you’re saying and you’re not alone. The silver lining is that I have the answers to your questions.
You don’t need Zend or Ioncube. There’s no encryption that I’m aware of in the most recent version.
There’s no “call home” to the Quality Unit servers except when you register your license. If their server goes offline you won’t notice and neither will your affiliates. It won’t affect you.
PAP can be set to ignore some products and only offer commission on some.

I have learned the hard way though, that in these situations a fool and their money are soon parted. I’ve been waiting over 2 weeks now and nary an answer from the developer. I’ve sent multiple emails to them as well. I have to be blunt in saying that I have ZERO confidence in them and their application.
I’ve hired a programmer to code in a shopping cart for me and am going to use iDevAffiliate instead. It costs substantially more, but I can’t afford to risk my business on these guys. If you have an affiliate network setup with them, let me know…I’d be more than happy to buy through you.

Yes, you can set up rules that automatically bump affiliates to the next higher payout based on sales, or you can manually promote them.

The developers of my directory have installed this program before and this is what they reccomend. They are going to charge me 4 hours to do the install. Go to the /shop.htm page and see the subdomain affiliates that we try to serve. These resellers’ supporters buy from the link, but we have no way to track the sales other than in the comment box. We need a means to split the commissions between them and us through pay Pal. Also we might establish commissions with other resellers, such as a team, when the first team promotes a second team. Will this software do what I describe? Are you available to help my new web designer install and debug such a commission spliting strategy?

Question about PAP - I’m launching a “sub-affiliate” program where i take offers from other affiliate networks (e.g. CJ) and provide it to my sub-affiliates. The sub-affiliates would get links generated by PAP.
-> Does PAP have a feature to re-direct the incoming PAP link to CJ’s link, so that the Sale can be completed on CJ’s site?
-> Also, can PAP append the affiliate id as a tracking parameter to CJ’s URL, so that the Sales reports from CJ would break out by sub-affiliate id?
If not, any suggestions on what software can provide this redirection feature?

How can PAP handle that? In other words, say Bill clicks on Bob’s affiliate link and purchases a membership from us, but then wants a refund within 3 days. Since Bill gets refunded for our product, we wouldn’t want Bob to be paid for that sale since it didn’t go through.
Does PAP have any kind of automatic arrangement for that? Kind of like a 3-day delay we could set?
