Note: this is continuation of a 2 part review. Part one of my review covers some of the original reasons I tried Post Affiliate Pro.
Post Affiliate Pro Gives You More Flexibility With Affiliate Payments
There’s a new feature that gives you, the merchant, the ability to credit every single affiliate that contributed to the sale a small sliver of the affiliate commission. This feature addresses the issue that comes up when a hot product is being promoted by many affiliate and the visitor clicks 2 or more affiliate links before placing an order.
Do you pay the first affiliate or the last affiliate?
Post Affiliate Pro gives you both of those options but the new feature for splitting commissions gives you the option to pay all of them. The software automatically splits it up amongst the numerous affiliates involved in the transaction.
I have mixed feelings about this feature. From a merchant’s point of view it could be fantastic because one of the biggest problems you’ll have with an affiliate program is that most affiliates have no idea what to do and very little motivation to try to stick it out and educate themselves or risk their time and money.
The split commission feature could give them a taste of success much quicker than they would have received under the more common “first to get the click” or “last to get the click” scenario. And this little taste of success might be all it takes to get the affiliate excited and motivated to promote your products more.
From the point of view of a successful and experienced affiliate this payout sucks. I’ve experienced it from that point of view and no matter how well the merchant explains it, the bottom line is that your affiliate income is going to be cut in half and divided amongst other affiliates that don’t know how to sell. It’s redistribution of affiliate wealth.
Here’s why you might care what an experienced affiliate thinks: it’s common for the top 1% of your affiliates to generate close to 50% of your sales in a mature affiliate program. And if your results are slightly different the fact still remains that the top 5% of your affiliates are driving the majority of the sales.
The split commission feature appeals to the average and below average affiliate at the expense of the top affiliates.
Where Post Affiliate Pro Falls Short
The company behind Post Affiliate Pro is in an eastern bloc country and so for buyers in the United States you need to know that the response on tickets is slower than you’re used to and the replies will be in English that is understandable but a little “off”.
This also means that the free install that comes with your purchase of Post Affiliate Pro will probably take several days.
Just keep this in mind if you’re not comfortable with installing your own software on your server or you think you might need some extra help. My best suggestion is to make sure that you include all pertinent information about your problem or support request, including your order id and your login information so that you have the highest probability of getting your ticket resolved in the first 24 to 48 hours.
Antiquated newsletter system
If you want your affiliates to stay motivated, you have to be in regular contact with them. Very few affiliates will keep promoting your products month after month unless you’re running contests and you keep your relationship strong.
If you want your program to be successful, then you need to plan for success from the start. So do not use the built in newsletter feature.
Post Affiliate Pro’s newsletter system could get you in serious hot water with your web hosting provider, get your website blacklisted as a spammer, and cause most of your email to never get sent out.
This really isn’t Post Affiliate Pro’s fault… you need a third party service that’s reliable and gives you double opt in, and you need to know how to entice affiliates to join.
Free Tutorials to Solve Post Affiliate Pro Shortcomings
I’m frequently told that I have a gift for making complex technical subjects easy to understand. That probably comes from my background in sales and marketing for companies like AT&T and Merril Lynch. You don’t hit quotas sitting behind your computer or staring at your shoe laces when you meet with a potential client.
My years of selling “belly to belly” has carried over to my life as an internet marketer. And as a result I’ve honed a talent for blending programming and marketing in a way that few others can.
The reason I’m telling you this is because I’ve recorded my every move and every thought during a complete install of Post Affiliate Pro and I’ll gladly give you these videos to watch and study to your heart’s content. I’ve also upload some of my custom code that you can use to make Post Affiliate Pro even better.
You’ll get instant access to my members area where I have 14 videos and extra downloads waiting for you.
And the best part is that it won’t cost you a dime. That’s because I’m an affiliate for Post Affiliate Pro. They’ll pay me a small portion of their revenue if you decide to purchase because of my information.
If you want the videos and downloads and you haven’t purchased Post Affiliate Pro then just purchase through my affiliate link below.
Next, after you make your purchase, send me your information here and once I verify your order, I’ll send you your files.
One last thing…
Please understand that these templates and code are for your use only. You may not distribute them in any way and you certainly cannot resell them.
All the best,
Jack Born
