Last month WordPress.org updated their plugin directory and bloggers began hailing it as a grand achievement long overdue.
Hogwash.
I do not like the new WordPress plugin directory because it reduces options for plugin authors and plugin users.

March 28th, 2007 — Goals
No, not spam. I have good solutions for that.
I currently spend the first three hours of my day answer two types of emails:
I’m just about to buy your product, but I need to ask you these questions first…
and
I just bought your product, but I need to ask you these questions and I’m in a super big hurry…
This is a good problem to have. My revenue is increasing, and providing this personal support drives a lot of sales.
But I don’t have time to do much else, and I’ve got two notebooks full of project ideas just begging to be put into action. No kidding.
So here’s the plan:

March 28th, 2007 — Marketing
Like I said in yesterday’s post, there are lots of reasons to write a book. Getting rich off of royalties is not one of them. To say it’s a long shot is a huge understatement.
If you’re writing the next great American novel and you are courting the likes of Random House then this advice doesn’t apply to you.
But if you’re an entrepreneur in the business of creating products and selling them for passive income, listen up.
Don’t write a book to make money off royalties.
- Writing the book is hard work
- Getting it self published can be a pain in the ass
- The margins stink
So why write a book? Here’s a few reasons.

I just purchased a new internet marketing book by James Brausch during his 24 hour special (still running as of the time of this post) and I’m going to review it, and send the feedback to James, as he requested.
One of the reasons I stay tuned to James’s blog is that several times a month I’ll pick up a new trick, new twist on an idea, or in this case, a new vendor.

March 26th, 2007 — Merchant Account
It’s about friggin’ time that Authorize.Net has come around and added what would seem to be a “no brainer”.
I’m talking about recurring billing, recurring revenue, subscriptions, etcetera.

One word: Prepaid.
Yesterday was Sunday. I would have loved to have been having fun in the sun with my family on the beach. But I wasn’t.
Instead, I spent hours at the office crunching numbers so I’d be ready to hand them over to my accountant come 1:30 on Monday. Yuck.

March 23rd, 2007 — Word Press
Well over a year ago, I created two plugins for WordPress that make it easy to integrate files into WordPress and have the theme wrap around the content nicely.
For example, you could upload a PHP file with the following code:

A few weeks back, one of my closest friends told me that I couldn’t, “…just pull money out of your @ss…”
I insisted that I could.
Not on the spot, like a magician pulling a rabbit out of a hat (got the visual) but given a few weeks, yes, I could materialize money.
So here’s what I did.

March 16th, 2007 — Ultimate Form Mail
Yesterday I sold a whole bunch of Ultimate Form Mail licenses, and one of the buyers had stanford.edu in the email.
Hmmm… I thought.
Then I very nice woman named Yen contacted me, and asked for help updating their form.
Side note: Ultimate Form Mail is very easy to configure with an existing form, but some people have more money than time, and prefer to trade greenbacks for convenience. The fact that I’m still offering my time for money (on occasion), is an indication that I’m not where I need to be, as far as my business goes.
But it’s very cool to have one of the best universities in the world choosing my product for their website.
If you have a website, and you want a powerful contact form processor with tons of spam fighting capabilities, check out Ultimate Form Mail.

One of my closest friends just came back from a long trip to China, where he was negotiating with manufacturers for the niche product he sells… that’s not a lot of detail, but for obvious reasons.
This morning we’re talking about the Pay Per Click campaign he had me put together while he was away, and all of a sudden, inspiration struck. Continue reading →
